Gavin's first birthday

My co-workers son turned one today and I made the cake, originally the idea was 3 dozen cupcakes and a small cake for Gavin (her son) but that would lots and lots of work. So we decided on the mickey mouse hat cake for Gavin and another mickey mouse cake for the rest of us.

And after the birthday boy got a hold of the cake.

Starry Night

A friend was having a Canada day BBQ and wanted some crazy cupcakes. I decided to attempt van Gogh's Starry night.

It's Scone Time

This past Saturday a coworker of mine gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. On Sunday I went to visit and instead of bringing a teddy or flowers I decided to bring scones. Raspberry, white chocolate scones.
I've also currently purchased a new camera, so here is a little taste of my scone mania.

Old Cars and a Hand of Bridge

It was Duncan's Poppa's 80th birthday a few weekends ago and I was asked to supply the cake. I was also asked to make a cake for his wife, Pat, since we didn't get to celebrate her 80th birthday a few months ago.

I made a spice cake with cream cheese frosting and a 1930s gum paste/fondant car.

Pat's cake was chocolate with a butter cream frosting and a bridge hand.

Along with the two cake I also made a dozen cupcakes, they went upside down on the drive up there so most weren't as cute as the picture below.

I love the polka dot cupcake liners!

Strawberry Love

Chocolate and strawberries nothing says romance more. These cupcakes and of my own creation. The cupcake is a chocolate cake with a strawberry in the middle.

I'm proud of these mini cakes because of the frosting. It was an experiment gone right! Basically I made a strawberry compote added it to butter and mixed in icing sugar. When it was way to liquid I removed some of it and added some whipped cream. Oh My Goodness. Let me just say it was good.

(A picture of me and my man, let the romance and cupcakes begin)

Want some Smore?

This is my second attempt at Smore cupcakes. They have a chocolate cupcake with a graham cracker base and a chocolate kiss in the middle.

I topped the cupcakes off with a browned marshmallow frosting (it needs a bit more work) and finished off with another chocolate kiss.
